Once you are a member you are able to call us during our operating hours to arrange a collection and we’ll dispatch two drivers in one vehicle to you. One of the drivers drives you and your vehicle home while the other vehicle follows and collects our driver once he’s safely dropped you off at your destination.

The buDDys service is unfortunately only available to buDDys members. We make sure we always have teams of drivers available so that our members have access to a Buddy when they need one to get them home safely. The monthly membership helps us cover the costs of having buDDys on standby whenever you need them

The operating hours for the buDDys service are Monday to Thursday from 5pm to 1am, on Friday & Saturdays from 4pm to 3am and on Sundays and public holidays from 4pm to midnight. Our call centre doesn’t take any new bookings during the last half an hour of our operating hours so if you want a buDDy at 3am on a Saturday morning for example, you will need to have booked your buDDy before 2:30am
buDDys operates on a month to month basis – you may cancel your membership at any time by giving us one months notice.
The buDDys membership costs R149.99 per month. Our team is always ready and waiting to get you home safely and the monthly membership fee helps us cover the costs of ensuring the service is always available for you. The membership fee is collected via debit order from your account or credit card a month in advance.
Yes you can, you can also ensure that your direct family members have access to the service by adding them as secondary members under your membership. You can do this online under the become a member option, or by calling us on 0861 buddys.
How much you are charged for your trip depends on how far our driver takes you. It is measured from collection point to drop off point. We’ve kept our rates as simple as possible so you always know how much it’s going to cost you to use the service. Please see our rates schedule for applicable charges.
Our buDDys have extremely precious cargo to transport which is why we insist on recruiting only the best drivers to join our team! All our drivers are subjected to a rigorous selection and training process before joining the buDDys team. We also conduct regular assessments through ongoing training and quality assurance feedback to ensure all our drivers meet the service levels that we have set for ourselves.
You need to ensure that you have adequate insurance over your vehicle which includes the use of the vehicle by third party drivers (so as to include buDDys drivers). If the vehicle is involved in an accident when you are using the buDDys service, you’ll need to claim from your own insurance.
We collect via debit order so you don’t have to worry about carrying cash on you when using the service. We will send you an invoice at the end of the month for the service trips taken from the 25th of the previous month to the 25th of the current month. We will then collect the service fee amount from your account at the end of the month via debit order.
Absolutely, you just need to inform the call centre of the drop off points along the way when you call in to make your booking – just remember that you will be billed for the total trip including the drop-offs.
Unfortunately not, we are not a taxi service.
Our mobile app will always give you the ETA of the closest available buDDy when you log on. If you prefer to make a booking via our call center we’ll get a buDDy to you within 45 minutes of your call. We understand how important it is that we stick to our undertaking so if there’s any reason why we can’t keep our promise, we’ll always keep you posted.
We’ll let you know via SMS who your Buddy will be for that night before your collection time. All buDDys drivers must wear the buDDys branding and carry their ID/driver’s license cards at all times. If you are concerned about whether your driver is a legitimate buDDys driver please contact the call center and they will happily verify the drivers ID number with you before you hand over your keys to the buDDy.
Sure, if you cancel a call out 1 hour before your collection time, you won’t be charged. If you cancel your collection within one hour of your collection time, you will be charged 75% of the applicable trip charge.
If you’re found guilty of drunk driving in South Africa you could face up to 6 years in jail. You could also be liable for fines of up to R120 000 and your driver’s license may be suspended. You will also have a criminal record which can have serious ramifications for the rest of your life. Of course, the worst case scenario is that you could kill someone else on the road, your loved ones or yourself.
